On Saturday night at Fast Fridays Greg Hancock won the AMA National Championship to equal Mike Bast's 30 year record of 7 National Championship wins. Greg said "This is an incredible feeling to equal Mike Bast's record. All this time he has been my hero, my mentor, my friend. I have learned such a lot from Mike. Where do I go from here? This rounds up a great season. Getting second place in the World Championship is the best result since I won it in 97. I am grateful to all the folks who have supported me. I dedicate tonight's win to my friend John Cook." Mike Bast commented "Greg did a fantastic job. This was a 35 year record and I didn't think I would ever see it equaled. I remember Greg when I first saw him riding a mini-bike. I congratulate him and welcome him to the top rank of American Speedway".

Handicap Main, Shawn McConnell Wins it by an inch!

The last move happens behind the mound of dirt set up for the jumpers, so if you were not there, find someone who was, and ask them about it. Way to go Shawn!

Here is what Steve Evens had to say about that race

"Last night's performance from Shawn was truly vintage. His Handicap Main win was one of the most incredible moves I can recall in 22 years of speedway, and I've watched all the worlds best in that time. It was perfection, a clean move up the inside and made up such ground in no time. He was so pumped he must have done three victory laps! He didn't want to leave the track and we wanted him to stay too.
 
Shawn's bike control for me is the best of any rider out there. In years to come we'll look back at his unique way of hanging off the bike and putting on a show. Forget the Freestyle Jumpers last night, Shawn was the thrill maker!
 
Shawn helps the younger riders, and his management of the Victorville Vikings was key in their league success.
 
So thanks Shawn for all the thrills, with hopefully many more to come."
